We ourselves experienced how difficult it can be to find the right people and build a strong portfolio from the ground up. Therefore we set up this Portfolio Boost weekend.
To provide a safe environment to experiment, learn, connect, grow and above all have a good time.

On the Portfolio Boost day we will take you with us through the whole Beauty- & Fashion photoshoot process.
We have 6 spots available:
3 photographers and 3 make-up and hair artists.
And since there will also be 3 models available, no one will have to wait around.
We will also be shooting ourselves so you get a frontrow sneakpeek into our way of working. Tips and tricks will be shared, all questions answered. And then, it is your turn to convert your vision into images.

We start early to get the most out of this exciting day. Our models arrive and we start with make-up and styling. First up is our own team of Michael, Juliette and Zilla so that you can watch us work and ask questions. Then it is time to create yourself.

MICHAEL GRASTE
I feel privileged about the great projects I get to do. I am proud to have had greats like Kate Moss, Humberto Tan and Dafne Schippers in front of my lens. At the same time, I get just as much energy from an assignment to capture the individual employees of a law firm or to shoot a cover for a book.
In addition, I would like to transfer my knowledge and enthusiasm. In a world where taking a snapshot has become so incredibly easy, we sometimes forget what makes a photo really good. I like to convey that love for my profession to others.

ZILLA VAN DEN BORN

Zilla’s fascination with photo manipulation was born when she started modeling at the age of 16 and saw a photographer edit her body. This led her to the Art Academy, where her graduation project about distorted realities and fake social media representations became a worldwide viral with which she managed to shake up the internet.
Nowadays she works in post-production and is committed to create pixel perfection in visual storytelling.
To me, the creative process does not stop after a photo is captured – it has only just begun.

Award-winning international hair- and make-up artist, founder of JDO-Academy.
Juliëtte travels all over the world for her passion, working behind the scenes at renowned shoots for famous brands, magazines, and celebrities. With more than 15 years of experience, Juliette is a well-known person in the beauty and fashion industry.
Recently she won 2 Awards with the Coiffure Award 2019 (the Oscar among hairdressers) In 2014 she entered the top 10 best Make-up artists of the world and 2017 she won third place at the AIPP Hairdressers Award worldwide!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You can stay overnight if you want to, but it is not mandatory. However, we do recommend to join on Friday evening since we all want to get to know each other a bit better before starting the next day’s shoot.
The villa is big enough, but not originally catered to accommodate the whole group. Therefore rooms will be shared and some of the beds will be air mattresses, which will be divided into consultation. In order to comply with the corona measures, we apply a maximum of 2 persons per room.
The Portfolio Boost day is intended for all levels, apart from the real beginner without any gear or tools. You do not need a big portfolio, but we do expect a certain basic level. Please do note that even though we will be there to guide and help, this is not a workshop.
At the Portfolio Boost day we follow the advice of the RIVM and keep a 1.5-meter distance. There will be hand soap available to wash your hands. And all participants will be asked in advance not to come in case of any symptoms.
Photographers, bring your own gear. Make-up/hair artists bring your own tools.
Optional:
- sleeping gear if you want to stay the night
- swimming gear in case you want to do a refreshing dip in the pool yourself
